Well hello everyone. I decided to start sharing progress with you. It’s been one month and so far so good. My sump is about 95% complete. I am still using my back filter at the moment until it’s 100%. Im very happy with where I’m at, it’s brought a lot of joy to my household. Hope you all enjoy seeing it grow. Don’t hesitate to give feedback if you notice I’m doing anything wrong.

Looking good ! Your set up looks good, I see no reason to be using the "extra" filter. That is the job of the sump.

I haven’t put any actual filtration in there yet except my skimmer and some live rock. I didn’t think that was enough

What other filtration are you putting in there ? The rock becomes the filter. That is part of the cycle as your rock becomes "live". Only other thing besides your skimmer would be a filter sock. Some guys do not run them, others do. I always use one to remove the larger solids in the system.

Yes the plan was a filter sock. I also want to keep the bio from my top filter, can I put it in my sump? I am going to add Chaeto as well.

I would not put it back in. That's like dumping your protein skimmer back in !

What I’m talking about is the bag of biomax that holds bacteria. It looks like this picture. I thought that was good bacteria to keep. IMG_5178.JPG

Not what I thought you meant. I guess you could put it in the sump by your rock, but if you are using the sump (water flow through the tank), it will do the same thing naturally to your live rock. You will just be doing the same thing twice and in the long run, probably making your cycle take longer.

Thank you. I’d love to have a green mushroom. I’m currently in the 34th ABCT but I’m assigned to a JFHQ as part of a training unit. Good to know you’re not a dirty leg ha. All the way!

Airborne! Lmao I don't get to hear that term nearly enough anymore. You let me know when you're ready for it we can set something up. I'm in the middle of a tank relocation and it's a nightmare

And yes I know that an anemone is not a coral I just thought it was a good picture.

Just an update. Corals are growing and multiplying. I’m happy with how well it’s going.

Update. This was a couple weeks ago. I’ve already changed a few things since but figured I’d add a picture.
