So I’ve researched and I can’t really find anything to answer this question. I have Chaeto in my sump and it’s been growing like crazy. My tank is doing phenomenal. I’m reading 0 nitrates and all my coral is growing fast. However, recently I’m having a lot of algae grow in my sump and all over my chaeto algae. It’s a hunter green color and looks slimy. It may be hair algae but I’m not sure.

Is this normal? What do I do to combat that or should I just leave it?

This happened to me. Don't know if it's a problem or not but id just throw out the slimy parts when I was thining out my chaeto.

Eventually I took my whole sump apart and cleaned out everything and only saved a small piece of clean chaeto.
